Made by hand in Damascus by the Al-Roumani workshop.
This rectangular tray is made of walnut wood set with hand-painted glazed ceramic tile decoration, the Damascene craft known as qishani. The tiles are painted by hand and fired to a glossy glaze, in the cobalt blue, turquoise and green the craft is known for.
Qishani takes its name from Kashan in Persia and has been made in Damascus since the 16th century. Today only a handful of workshops still practice it, which makes a piece like this rare. Use it for serving, or keep it on display as a decorative piece.

Care Instructions
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators and humidity. No polish or chemicals needed, the natural wax finish protects the wood and mother-of-pearl for generations.
