Made by hand in Damascus by the Al-Halabi family workshop.
This oval box combines two Damascene crafts. A carved design is cut into the wood by hand, in relief, and small pieces of walnut, beechwood, rosewood, lemon wood and eucalyptus are fitted together into a mosaic with mother-of-pearl set in, so the pattern catches the light as you turn the box.
Inside, a wine-red velvet lining holds jewelry and keepsakes safely. You can feel the carved relief under your fingers.
